Say what you want about the Soviet Union, it was a rotten structure politically & economically from it's very inception. But Soviet cinema, at least in my eyes is none of that. It's very pure, often unpolitical, and even anti-political and detached from the CPSU.

What films? The comedic masterpieces of Gaidai like "Diamond Arm" and "Caucasian Prisoner"? Menshov's "Moscow Does Not Believe in Tears" and "Love and Pigeons"? Bortko's "Dog's Heart"? Or do you mean the movie all Russians watch on New Years Eve, "Irony of Fate"? pic.x.com/fcwx78sdhi x.com/midalthunter18… (⊹)

Movies in the USSR are some of the best directed and most beautifully crafted films in the history of cinematography. They feel real, as if you are actually watching real people and not simply actors on a screen. It's something you cannot put into words.
