@GenocideAfrica Look : Irkutsk sent 1.76 trillion rubles to the FEDERAL budget (mainly mineral tax, of which 100% goes to the FEDERAL budget)
Irkutsk had a REGIONAL budget deficit of 13 billion rubles. If even just 1% (!!!) of mineral tax remained in the region it'd have been 4 billion surplus.

@RADFEM_TEMUJIN Maybe Irkutsk, but definitely not most of Siberia. Plus you do realise that being integrated with the rest of Russia and her market and is beneficial in and of itself? At best an independent Irkutsk would be a Siberian rentier state?
